- Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of the 17th Lok Sabha in the presence of top political leaders, foreign dignitaries, Bollywood stars, business tycoons and others. President Ram Nath Kovind administered the Oath of Office and Secrecy to Modi and his new Council of Ministers at a function in Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi on 30 May 2019. The ceremony saw the presence of leaders of the BIMSTEC Member Countries; Sooronbay Jeenbekov, the President of Kyrgyzstan; and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth.
- ICC World Cup 2019 begins from today (30 May 19) in England. England will play the opening match against South Africa. The World Cup will span 48 matches in all. Total 10 teams will participate in this tournament.
- The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the flight test of ‘Abhyas’, a high-speed expendable aerial target (HEAT), which offers a realistic threat scenario for practice of weapon systems.
- World’s fastest bullet train starts high-speed tests in Japan. Called the Alpha-X with the capacity of speeds of as much as 400kmh, the train is scheduled to go into service in 2030.
