  • The Union Interim Budget 2019 was presented by Finance Minister Piyush Goyal on 1st February 2019. The Budget provides relief to individuals in Income tax by doubling the threshold exemption limit to five lakh rupees.

  • 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and many others injured when terrorists targeted a convoy with a car bomb at Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

  • The Union Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that during an aerial engagement with Pakistani fighter jets on February 27, 2019, India lost one of its MiG-21 aircraft. The fighter jet was shot down in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and its pilot, an Indian Air Force Wing Commander was taken into custody by Pakistan. 
  • Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman, captured by Pakistan on 27 Feb, will be released on 01 Mar as a “gesture of peace”, Imran Khan declared on 28 Feb 2019.
