Lt Gen J Debnath Reviews AMC Centre Passing Out Parade After Battlefield Medical Training
Medical and Dental Officers who completed the Medical Officers Basic Course passed out at the AMC Centre & College on September 19, 2026, at a parade that marked the formal conclusion of their military and specialised medical training.
The Passing Out Parade came at a time when the demands placed on military medical personnel are changing alongside the nature of modern warfare. According to the information shared, the course was designed to prepare the officers for the realities of providing urgent medical support in operational settings, where injuries can be severe, conditions can be unpredictable and time for intervention is often limited.
Training during the course included instruction in military ethos, prolonged combat casualty care and Advanced Trauma Life Support. The aim was to equip the officers with the skills needed to treat serious injuries and manage medical emergencies under battlefield conditions. A particular focus of the programme was casualty care in circumstances where immediate evacuation or access to higher medical facilities may not be possible, a requirement that is increasingly relevant in contemporary military operations.
Lt Gen J Debnath, Commandant of the AMC Centre & College, reviewed the parade and addressed the graduating officers. In his remarks, he called on them to uphold the traditions of the Armed Forces Medical Services and serve with compassion, humility and dedication.
The ceremony also marked the officers’ transition into duties across military medical establishments and operational formations, where they will be responsible for supporting the healthcare needs of Armed Forces personnel in both peace-time and field environments. Their roles will extend from routine medical care to operational support, reflecting the broad responsibilities expected of military doctors and dentists in service.
