Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, recently conducted a visit to the Konark Corps in Jodhpur to evaluate its operational readiness in the western desert sectors of India.

During his visit, Lt Gen Seth was briefed comprehensively on the modernization efforts aimed at enhancing the agility, self-reliance, and technological advancements of the Desert Corps. Additionally, he assessed initiatives designed to improve the living conditions for troops at the Jodhpur Military Station.

Lt Gen Seth praised the corps for its state of readiness and highlighted the importance of the lessons learned from Operation Sindoor, which addressed adaptive strategies against hybrid threats such as drone and cyber attacks. He urged all ranks to maintain a high level of mission readiness and resilience in confronting security challenges in Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The visit also featured a ceremony where distinguished personnel were recognized for their professionalism and dedication, further reinforcing the corps’ tradition of operational excellence. Established during Operation Trident in 1987, the Konark Corps takes its insignia from the Konark Sun Temple, symbolizing its strategic reach and resilience in the harsh desert environment.

The Southern Command remains committed to innovation and the adoption of new technologies, ensuring that India’s desert frontiers are secured and that the Desert Corps continues to be a modern, capable force.
