Former IAF Chiefs' Sons Garner Vayu Sena Medal for Gallantry
In an exceptional occasion for the Indian Air Force (IAF), Group Captain Omar Browne and Squadron Leader Mihir Vivek Chaudhari, both sons of former IAF Chiefs, have been awarded the esteemed Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry). These honorees are the sons of Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne (Retd) and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari (Retd), respectively. This event marks a rare moment where military valor appears to be passed down through generations.
Historical records indicate that since 1960, only approximately 5% of gallantry awards have been bestowed upon the children of senior officers, highlighting the uniqueness of this year's recognitions.

However, a 2022 Ministry of Defence report reiterated the objectivity of the officer selection process through the NDA and CDS exams.
