Zynetra Defence Trials Indigenous Punisher Gun Mount for Drone Defence in Jammu & Kashmir

Pune-based company Zynetra Defence has successfully completed tests of its domestically developed Punisher Multi-Purpose Gun Mount, designed specifically for Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) duties, at Akhnoor in Jammu & Kashmir.
The Punisher gun mount is capable of delivering precise firepower and is adaptable for calibres ranging from 7.62mm to 14.5mm. It features interchangeable weapon cradles, semi-automatic operation, targeted sighting systems, and is powered by a high-torque brushless DC motor with a 12-hour battery life. These capabilities ensure consistent performance across various operational settings.
The trials conducted in Akhnoor, a strategically important area, confirmed the system’s ability to acquire, track, and neutralize targets, which is crucial for countering drone threats along the Indo-Pak border. The system is also compatible with existing surveillance and defence networks, enhancing operational readiness in frontline areas.
The domestic creation of the Punisher gun mount is in line with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, highlighting innovation within the private sector to support frontline forces with advanced, indigenous technology. Officials noted that the system’s multi-role flexibility makes it a potentially significant component of India’s layered air defence strategy.
The successful trials indicate the increasing capability of Indian defence manufacturers to offer customized solutions for modern asymmetric threats, thereby reducing reliance on imports and strengthening the national defence industrial base. Further refinements and operational deployment are anticipated to extend the Punisher's use within various segments of the Indian Armed Forces.
This accomplishment highlights India's dedication to indigenous innovation and strategic vigilance, especially in border regions with high threat levels.
