White Knight Corps Reviews Air Defence Preparedness and Engages with Veterans in Jammu and Kashmir

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps recently carried out an in-depth evaluation of the operational readiness of the White Knight Air Defence Brigade during a visit to its base in Jammu and Kashmir. This assessment concentrated on the brigade’s state of readiness in light of its significant participation in Operation Sindoor, a targeted strike by the Indian Armed Forces against terrorist camps that took place in May 2025.

The GOC praised the brigade for its precise execution and professionalism during the operation, highlighting its crucial role in protecting the northern borders and boosting air defence capabilities in the sensitive region. The White Knight Corps, also known as XVI Corps, has been stationed in Nagrota since 1972 and continues to lead India's counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism efforts in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the visit, the GOC also engaged with ex-servicemen, acknowledging their ongoing contributions to the military community. This engagement aligns with the goals of the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare under the Ministry of Defence, which caters to over 2.8 million veterans throughout India with programs that provide healthcare, pensions, and rehabilitation.

Images from the visit depicted the GOC reviewing modern air defence systems and equipment alongside senior officers, as well as interacting with local veterans and officials. The inspection not only reinforced the forces’ operational alertness but also underscored the Army’s integrated strategy towards soldier welfare and fostering community partnerships in the region.

This initiative is anticipated to enhance the security apparatus in Jammu and Kashmir amid ongoing regional challenges, while reaffirming the Army’s dual focus on readiness and support for veterans.
