White Knight Corps Commander Reviews Counter-Terrorism Operations in Poonch’s Surankote Sector

The General Officer Commanding of the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps visited operational areas in the Surankote sector of Poonch district to assess the security situation and review ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the Pir Panjal region.

The visit was carried out with the GOC of Romeo Force, as senior Army officers briefed the Corps Commander on the prevailing security environment and the focused operations underway across the hinterland areas of the Pir Panjal belt. The Army said the briefing centred on the current security posture and the coordination being maintained on the ground.

According to the Army, the review also covered efforts to maintain domination over the Pir Panjal Range, strengthen the joint intelligence network and ensure close coordination between the Army and other security agencies operating in the area. These measures are part of the broader security effort in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pir Panjal corridor, where forces continue to monitor movement and activity in difficult terrain.

During the visit, the Corps Commander also reviewed the preparedness of troops deployed in the challenging terrain and examined the steps being taken to deny terrorist elements any operational space in the region. Officials briefed him on the ongoing measures intended to sustain pressure on hostile groups and reinforce the security grid.

In his interaction with personnel, the GOC appreciated the professionalism and commitment of the troops and other security stakeholders involved in the operations. He also acknowledged their continued efforts despite the difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions that frequently affect operations in the area.

The Army said the counter-terrorism effort in the sector remains sustained and coordinated, with intelligence-driven operations and close inter-agency cooperation continuing to guide the security response. The visit comes at a time when vigilance remains heightened across the Pir Panjal belt of Jammu and Kashmir.
