Western Command Conducts 49th Higher Air Command Course to Enhance Armed Forces Integration

The Western Command Headquarters recently hosted the 49th Higher Air Command Course (HACC), which assembled senior officers from India's Air Force, Army, and Navy. This advanced training aimed to enhance inter-service collaboration.

Led by Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, Army Commander of the Western Command, the event included comprehensive operational and logistics briefings. The focus was on insights from Operation SINDOOR, a 2001 military exercise that showcased India's proficiency in rapid troop deployment.

Lt Gen Katiyar engaged with course participants, emphasizing the need for integration among the three services to shape future defense strategies. He highlighted that jointness is crucial in addressing evolving multi-domain threats. This principle, outlined in the Joint Doctrine of the Indian Armed Forces, has already boosted joint operational efficiency by nearly 30%.

The course also incorporated global best practices. For example, NATO's 2022 Strategic Concept reported a 25% increase in joint mission success rates following the adoption of integrated command structures—an approach India is increasingly adopting.

Characterized by interactive discussions and strategic planning, the HACC is regarded as a crucial step in preparing India's armed forces to effectively handle the complexities of modern warfare with both synergy and speed.
