Tribute to Lance Havildar Suresh Kumar: Sacrificed in Battle During Amarnath Yatra Duty
Lance Havildar Suresh Kumar of the 3 Jat Regiment lost his life while on duty for the Amarnath Yatra. The Indian Army has classified his passing as a Battle Casualty, acknowledging his ultimate sacrifice while serving the nation.
Originating from Haripura village in Dantaramgarh tehsil of Rajasthan's Sikar district, Lance Havildar Suresh Kumar was part of the Indian Army and stationed in Pathankot, Punjab prior to being deployed for the security of the pilgrimage.
His family recounted that just 20 minutes before the unfortunate event, he had spoken with his father, Jagdish Genan. During the conversation, he assured his father that all was well and expressed his hope to visit home after his leave was approved. Shortly after, the Army informed the family of his death.
The soldier's remains were brought back to his hometown, where thousands attended a Tiranga Yatra from Khachariyawas Police Outpost to Haripura. Villagers, former servicemen, young people, and members of various social organizations gathered to honor the soldier, chanting patriotic slogans as a tribute.
Lance Havildar Suresh Kumar leaves behind his wife Seema Devi, their nine-year-old son Piyush, and his elderly parents. His son performed the last rites, and the Indian Army provided full military honors, including a Guard of Honour.
Among those paying tribute were several dignitaries, such as Sikar MP Amraram and Dantaramgarh MLA Virendra Singh, who laid floral tributes to honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication demonstrated by the martyred soldier.
