Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti Evaluates Eastern Naval Command's Operational Readiness and Capability Enhancement

Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, serving as the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff, conducted a visit to the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam from July 5 to 7, 2026. The purpose of his visit was to assess the operational preparedness and the development initiatives within the Command.

During his time there, Vice Admiral Sobti engaged with personnel aboard INS Agray, INS Dunagiri, and INS Mysore. These interactions were part of a comprehensive review aimed at evaluating the Command’s readiness to address the evolving maritime security landscape.

The Deputy Chief also examined the progress of various projects at Hindustan Shipyard Limited, including shipbuilding, refit, and infrastructure endeavors. This review underscored the Indian Navy's ongoing commitment to bolstering indigenous capabilities and ensuring timely advancement of essential naval projects.

In addition, Vice Admiral Sobti met with Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command. This meeting highlighted the significance of coordinated leadership and a continuous focus on operations within one of the Navy's pivotal maritime commands.

Vice Admiral Sobti also addressed the officers of the Command, discussing elements of the Indian Navy Vision 2047, the Indian Maritime Doctrine, and the Indian Navy Maritime Security Strategy. This interaction served as a platform to explore the Navy’s long-term goals, doctrinal priorities, and strategic plans for maritime security.

The visit underscored the Indian Navy's strong focus on combat readiness, ensuring maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region, and advancing indigenous capability development as part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
