Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan Evaluates Eastern Naval Command's Strategic Preparedness

Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, serving as the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, conducted a visit to the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam from December 16 to 19, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to assess the command's operational readiness and examine its strategic infrastructure development initiatives.

During his visit, Vice Admiral Vatsayan held discussions with Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command. He received briefings on the current operational posture, infrastructure advancements, and plans for future capacity enhancements within the command.

In addition to strategic discussions, Vice Admiral Vatsayan toured frontline units including INS Udaygiri and INS Sahyadri from the Eastern Fleet, which is known as the Sunrise Fleet. He praised the crew for their professionalism, seamanship, and high level of operational readiness.

Vice Admiral Vatsayan reiterated the importance of the Indian Navy's focus on combat readiness, highlighting the need for indigenisation and the integration of new and emerging technologies to effectively counter evolving security threats in the Indian Ocean Region.

The visit highlighted the Indian Navy's ongoing commitment to sustaining a strong maritime presence on the eastern seaboard and enhancing its capability to protect national maritime interests.
