Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla Lays Foundation for Key Eastern Naval Command Projects in Visakhapatnam
Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command, has laid the foundation stones for a set of major infrastructure projects in Visakhapatnam, with the new works aimed at both strengthening naval support facilities and improving living conditions for personnel and their families.
The projects cover three separate developments: a G+1 semi-air-conditioned storage accommodation facility at Base Victualling Yard, a modern Sailors Institute under INS Vishwakarma, and 44 dwelling units for Defence Civilian Married Accommodation at Ashoka Park.

The storage facility planned at Base Victualling Yard is expected to add to the Navy’s logistics and storage capacity. By improving how supplies and related material are housed, the facility is intended to support the Command’s day-to-day operational requirements more efficiently.
The proposed Sailors Institute under INS Vishwakarma will serve as a dedicated support space for naval personnel. According to the information released, the facility is meant to provide improved amenities and assistance services for sailors stationed in the area.
At Ashoka Park, the 44 dwelling units for Defence Civilian Married Accommodation are aimed at easing residential needs for defence civilian personnel and their families. The addition of these homes is expected to strengthen accommodation infrastructure within the station and improve the overall housing environment for those serving there.

During the same visit, Vice Admiral Bhalla also reviewed a range of ongoing infrastructure projects at Nau Shakti Nagar, which is described as the premier township of the Eastern Naval Command. The review covered the progress of current works and the broader effort to expand and modernise infrastructure across the Command.
The developments form part of a wider push by the Eastern Naval Command to create modern, efficient and sustainable facilities while meeting the growing needs of its personnel. The projects are intended to support both operational and administrative requirements, while also improving welfare and residential facilities for naval personnel, defence civilians and their families.
The foundation-laying ceremonies, along with the review of ongoing construction at Nau Shakti Nagar, reflect the Command’s continuing focus on infrastructure expansion and on providing better living conditions for those serving under it.
