Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena Reviews Operational Readiness at INS Jatayu in Lakshadweep
Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, who holds the position of Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, made a visit to INS Jatayu located on Minicoy, the southernmost island of Lakshadweep, on January 11, 2026.

During his visit, Vice Admiral Saxena conducted a review of significant operational requirements and evaluated the progress of important infrastructure projects at the naval base. He received briefings on various initiatives designed to enhance the base's operational readiness, maintenance capabilities, and overall strategic capacity. Additionally, he engaged with personnel during a Barakhana, praising their professionalism, dedication, and service in the demanding maritime environment.

Joining the visit, Vice Admiral Kavita Sahai, Director General Medical Services (Navy), examined the plans for an upcoming Joint Services Multi-Speciality Medical Camp in Lakshadweep. This initiative aims to expand medical outreach and healthcare services for both personnel and the local community, highlighting the Navy's dedication to maintaining operational readiness and offering humanitarian assistance.

The visit emphasized the Southern Naval Command's commitment to bolstering maritime security, infrastructure development, and welfare programs throughout India's island territories.
