Vice Admiral McCarty Assesses Tri-Service Readiness in Andaman & Nicobar Southern Islands
Port Blair, July 25, 2026: Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, AVSM, Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), undertook a visit to the Southern Group of Islands to evaluate the Tri-Service operational readiness and assess the development of strategic infrastructure aimed at fortifying India's southern maritime boundary.
Throughout his visit, Vice Admiral McCarty was briefed in detail on the operational preparedness of the units under the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) stationed across the Southern Group of Islands. The review concentrated on the forces' ability to effectively meet evolving maritime security threats while maintaining a high level of operational capability in this strategically significant island chain.
The Vice Admiral also examined ongoing strategic infrastructure development projects intended to boost the command's operational efficiency, logistics support, and surveillance capabilities. Building critical infrastructure on these islands is a vital part of India's strategy to enhance its presence in the Indian Ocean Region, thereby improving the Armed Forces' capacity for sustained operations.
