CISF Jawan Parambeer Yadav Found Dead Near Gorakhpur Embankment, Murder FIR Filed

Gorakhpur police are investigating the death of a 38-year-old CISF jawan from the district, after his body was found late on Sunday night near the Bokta-Barwar embankment at Kalesar Zero Point under the GIDA police station area. The deceased, identified from his CISF identity card as Parambeer Yadav, a resident of Baghagada in Gorakhpur district, had been posted in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, and was returning home on leave when he was found unconscious beside the embankment.

Local reports have also referred to him as Parambir and Paramveer Yadav, while some early accounts had used the name Karmveer Yadav. Police said passers-by informed them around midnight after spotting the man lying near the embankment. He was rushed to BRD Medical College, where doctors declared him dead.

According to the family, Parambeer had been trying to reach home on Sunday after missing his train and had hired a vehicle for the remaining journey. His brother, Dharmbeer, said he never arrived at the village. Police later informed the family after identifying him from the identity card recovered from his pocket.

The post-mortem examination found injury marks on the head and concluded that death was caused by those injuries. Following a written complaint from his father, Dinesh Chandra Yadav, GIDA police registered a murder case against unknown persons. Circle Officer Abha Singh said the medical report had established death due to head injury, after which the FIR was lodged and evidence-gathering began.

The investigation is now focused on reconstructing Parambeer’s final journey. Police are tracing the hired vehicle he boarded after leaving Dhanbad, identifying any other occupants, and checking the stops made along the route. CCTV footage from Kalesar and toll plazas along the road is also being examined.

His wife, Pratima Yadav, has raised questions over the circumstances in which he died. She said he had called before leaving Dhanbad, told her that he was on his way home, and asked to speak with their daughter, Riya, who was asleep at the time. According to her, she later dialled his number about 55 times through the night but received no response. She said she only learnt later from her brother-in-law that he had been taken to hospital. The family has demanded an impartial inquiry.

After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family wrapped in the Tricolour. His last rites were performed with state honours in the presence of police and CISF personnel, and his father lit the pyre. Local reports said the funeral took place on Tuesday night.

Police have not yet established the motive or identified those involved in the death. The case remains open, with investigators continuing to examine the hired vehicle, CCTV footage from the route, and the contacts the jawan had before he was found near the embankment.
