Vice Admiral K. Srinivas Takes Helm as Director General of Naval Projects in Visakhapatnam
Vice Admiral K. Srinivas has taken over the position of Director General Naval Projects (DGNP) in Visakhapatnam as of November 1, 2025. This transition follows his tenure as Admiral Superintendent at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam, marking a pivotal development in the leadership of the Indian Navy's key infrastructure projects.
A Distinguished Naval Career Spanning Over 35 Years
Vice Admiral K. Srinivas, who joined the Indian Navy in 1990, is a graduate of Sainik School, Korukonda, and the National Defence Academy (NDA). With more than 35 years of service, he has held numerous significant roles, contributing to the Navy’s modernization efforts and self-sufficiency objectives.
Extensive Experience in Warship Operations and Maintenance
Throughout his notable career, Vice Admiral Srinivas has been extensively involved in maritime operations, including service on the former aircraft carrier INS Viraat. A key assignment was his role as Warship Production Superintendent in Severodvinsk, Russia, where he oversaw the repair and modernization of INS Vikramaditya, a critical enhancement to India's naval aviation strength.
Command and Key Appointments
He has previously served as Principal Director Fleet Maintenance at Naval Headquarters, significantly contributing to the maintenance and readiness of the Navy's fleet. He commanded INS Shivaji, the Navy's leading technical training establishment in Lonavla, where he spearheaded advancements in marine engineering education and innovation.
Prior to his current role as DGNP (Vizag), Vice Admiral Srinivas was the Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyard and Refit), managing essential naval maintenance and repair operations across various dockyards.
Academic Excellence and Strategic Training
Vice Admiral Srinivas is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington, the Naval War College in Karanja, and the National Defence College (NDC) in New Delhi. His blend of operational knowledge and strategic insight has been instrumental in driving the Navy’s modernization and infrastructure initiatives.
