Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar Takes Command as 19th Chief of Andaman & Nicobar Command

Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, AVSM, NM, took over as the 19th Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) on October 1, 2025. This appointment marks a significant change in leadership at India's sole Joint Services Command.
In recognition of this occasion, Vice Admiral Kochhar paid tribute to fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at Bayonet Square and received a ceremonial Guard of Honour at ANC. Known for his extensive experience and strategic insight, the Vice Admiral is a highly regarded Flag Officer.
Throughout his notable naval career, Vice Admiral Kochhar has led frontline warships, managed key operational and training assignments, and held vital leadership roles. His previous positions include Assistant Controller of Carrier Projects, Assistant Controller of Warship Production & Acquisition, Commandant of the National Defence Academy, and Chief of Staff at the Western Naval Command.

In these capacities, Vice Admiral Kochhar has significantly contributed to strengthening India's maritime capabilities, propelling naval modernization, and enhancing joint operational preparedness.
His tenure at the Andaman & Nicobar Command is anticipated to further enhance India's strategic influence in the Indian Ocean Region and fortify the country's maritime security framework.
