UPSC Releases CAPF Assistant Commandant 2025 Category-Wise Cut-Off Marks and Reserve List
The Union Public Service Commission has published the category-wise cut-off marks for the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2025, and released details of candidates recommended for appointment as Assistant Commandants in the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP and SSB. Against 432 vacancies, the commission has recommended 350 candidates, including 15 Ex-Servicemen.
The examination is conducted to recruit Group A officers for the Central Armed Police Forces. The total notified vacancies included 43 posts reserved for Ex-Servicemen, accounting for 10 per cent of the overall intake.

The final cut-off, which reflects the marks obtained by the last recommended candidate in each category, was highest in the OBC category at 292 out of 600. The General category closed at 285, followed by EWS at 282, SC at 265 and ST at 260. For Ex-Servicemen, the marks secured by the last recommended candidate were 125 out of 600.
The cut-off data also sets out the qualifying standards at different stages of the examination. In Paper-I, the minimum qualifying standard was 90.06 marks out of 250 for both General and OBC candidates. The corresponding figures were 88.71 for EWS, 82.00 for SC and 80.65 for ST candidates. For Ex-Servicemen, the Paper-I qualifying standard was 25.54.
At the written stage, combining Paper-I and Paper-II out of 450 marks, the minimum qualifying standard was 173 for General and OBC candidates, 172 for EWS, 162 for SC and 156 for ST candidates. In the Ex-Servicemen category, the written-stage figure was 60.
These written-stage cut-offs were subject to minimum performance requirements in Paper-II. For the main categories, candidates had to secure at least 25 per cent marks in Paper-II, equivalent to 50 marks. For Ex-Servicemen, the prescribed minimum in Paper-II was 15 per cent, or 30 marks.
The recommendation data released by the commission shows how the 350 appointments were distributed. In the General category, 185 vacancies were available. Five Ex-Servicemen were recommended against this category, leaving 180 vacancies after Ex-Servicemen adjustment, while 98 non-Ex-Servicemen candidates were recommended in the published details.
The EWS category had 44 vacancies and 44 candidates were recommended. In OBC, there were 109 vacancies, with eight Ex-Servicemen recommended and 101 non-Ex-Servicemen candidates recommended. In SC, 62 vacancies were available, including two Ex-Servicemen recommendations, and 60 non-Ex-Servicemen candidates were recommended. The ST category had 32 vacancies, all covered through non-Ex-Servicemen recommendations.
For the 43 vacancies earmarked for Ex-Servicemen, the 15 recommended candidates comprised five from the General category, eight from OBC and two from SC. The table released by UPSC notes 25 vacancies after Ex-Servicemen adjustment and a written-stage benchmark of 60, subject to the Paper-II minimum requirement indicated separately.
Alongside the cut-off marks, UPSC has also published a reserve list. The commission said the reserve list contains 164 candidates. Category-wise, it includes 82 candidates from General, 34 from EWS, 43 from OBC, three from SC and two from ST.

However, while the category-wise figures add up to 164 candidates, the total shown in the reserve list table is printed as 1 in the released document.
The commission has also specified the tie-breaking method used where two or more candidates secure the same aggregate marks. In such cases, the candidate with higher marks in the written examination is placed higher. If the written scores are also equal, preference is given to the candidate with higher marks in Paper-I. If the tie still remains unresolved, the older candidate is ranked higher in merit.
The released cut-off marks provide a detailed picture of the competition at each stage of the CAPF Assistant Commandants Examination 2025, from the initial Paper-I screening to the written-stage benchmark and the final recommendation mark. For aspirants, the data offers an official reference point on the standards required for selection to officer-level posts in India’s central armed police forces.
