Turkey Denies Involvement in Air India Crash, Refutes Baba Ramdev's Claims of Foreign Conspiracy

The Turkish government has categorically denied any role in the maintenance of an Air India Boeing 787-8 aircraft that crashed near Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025. The denial comes in response to accusations made by Indian yoga guru Baba Ramdev. The crash, which resulted in significant casualties, has intensified scrutiny over aviation safety standards and international maintenance agreements.

According to a statement from the Directorate General of Press and Information, Türkiye clarified that Turkish Technic, the aviation maintenance arm previously associated with Air India, did not service the aircraft involved in the incident. The statement highlighted that the agreement with the Indian airline pertains only to the maintenance of B777 aircraft and does not extend to the Boeing 787-8 models.

The Turkish government described the allegations as unfounded and cautioned that such claims could harm relations between Türkiye and India. The statement termed Baba Ramdev's assertions as "false and misleading," accusing them of attempting to sway public opinion and tarnish the reputation of internationally recognized Turkish aviation firms.

This development occurs amid increasing speculation regarding Air India's maintenance strategies, particularly against the backdrop of changing geopolitical situations. Recent information indicates that Air India has been distancing itself from Turkish Technic and is considering alternative global partners for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.

The Indian civil aviation ministry has launched a comprehensive investigation into the crash, with officials confirming that a multi-agency inquiry is in progress to determine the cause. Aviation experts have advised the public and media to refrain from jumping to conclusions and to wait for the factual outcomes from proper technical evaluations.

The international aviation community is closely observing the situation, as the results of this investigation may impact future decisions concerning cross-border maintenance contracts, aircraft servicing protocols, and regulatory compliance in the commercial aviation industry.
