Tributes Paid to Agniveer Mate After Heroic Sacrifice During Jammu Floods
On Friday, Lieutenant General P. K. Mishra, the commanding officer of the White Knight Corps, honored Agniveer Jimmy Ngamminlun Mate. Mate heroically lost his life while participating in a rescue mission near Jammu, where severe floods and landslides have caused havoc.
Mate was engaged in an anti-flood evacuation task on the outskirts of the city when he made the ultimate sacrifice, rescuing people amid persistent heavy rainfall. The Jammu region has experienced its most significant rainfall since 1910, resulting in extensive flooding and a fatal landslide at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, which took the lives of 34 individuals, including pilgrims.
In a heartfelt message on X, the White Knight Corps expressed their deepest condolences to Mate's family, commending his bravery and commitment. "His sacrifice in the line of duty will forever inspire future generations of soldiers," the Corps stated. This tragic event highlights the Indian Army's steadfast involvement in humanitarian and disaster relief efforts, even amidst severe natural disasters.
