Air Marshal Sanjiv Ghuratia Takes Charge as Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance at Indian Air Force Headquarters

Air Marshal Sanjiv Ghuratia, AVSM, VSM, has taken on the role of Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance at the Indian Air Force Headquarters. After assuming his new position, he honored fallen soldiers by placing a wreath at the National War Memorial.

Air Marshal Ghuratia was commissioned into the Aeronautical Engineering branch of the Indian Air Force in September 1988. He is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, the Air Force Test Pilot School in Bengaluru, and the Air Force Technical College, also in Bengaluru. He is a distinguished electrical engineer with degrees from GEC Jabalpur, BITS Pilani, and Madras University, and he completed his doctorate at Bhopal University.

A Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society in London, Air Marshal Ghuratia is affiliated with several other professional organizations. He has served as Lead Auditor for ISO 45000 (OH & SMS) and is an Associate Member of the Society of Flight Test Engineers in the USA.

Throughout his remarkable 37-year career, Air Marshal Ghuratia has held numerous important command and staff roles within the Indian Air Force and during a UN Mission in Congo, where he received commendation from the Force Commander. Before his current role, he served as the Senior Maintenance Staff Officer at HQ Maintenance Command.

In recognition of his outstanding service, he was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2016 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2025 by the President of India.

Air Marshal Ghuratia is married to Mrs. Archana, and they have two daughters.
