Terrorist Neutralised in Ongoing Operation 'Akhal' in Kulgam, J&K

In the Akhal area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, security forces successfully neutralized a terrorist during an ongoing anti-terror operation named 'Akhal'. The operation, which commenced on Friday evening, extended into its second day as the forces continued their search efforts in the thickly forested region.

The Army’s Chinar Corps reported that the night was marked by intermittent and intense exchanges of gunfire. They stated, “Alert troops responded with calibrated fire and tightened the noose while maintaining contact. One terrorist has been neutralised by the security forces so far. Operation continues.”

The confrontation was initiated following a coordinated operation by the Army, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the J&K Police, and the CRPF, who launched a cordon-and-search operation based on intelligence reports about terrorist presence in the area.

This marks the third significant encounter in Jammu and Kashmir this week. Recent operations have led to the elimination of six terrorists, including those involved in the deadly attack in Pahalgam.

Security forces remain vigilant across south Kashmir as anti-terror efforts intensify in various districts to counteract infiltrating and concealed militants. The identity and group affiliation of the terrorist killed in the Kulgam operation have not yet been officially disclosed.

Updates are anticipated as the operation continues to unfold.
