Surgeon Vice Admiral Vivek Hande, who serves as the Director General of Organisation and Personnel within the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), conducted an official visit to the Command Hospital (Eastern Command) in Kolkata on March 5, 2026. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the medical facilities and operational capabilities of this key military healthcare institution.

During his time at the hospital, the Commandant provided the Flag Officer with a comprehensive briefing. The discussion covered various aspects such as the range of patient care services, training programs currently in progress, best practices adopted, and the latest innovations in the field of medical management.

Surg Vice Adm Hande took the opportunity to inspect some of the hospital's key departments. His inspection included the MRI facility and the newly upgraded Accident and Emergency Centre. This allowed him to assess the hospital’s capability to provide advanced medical care to military personnel, veterans, and their families.

The Flag Officer engaged with the hospital’s officers, medical staff, and support personnel, acknowledging their commitment and professionalism in upholding high standards in patient care and medical training.
