Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin Opens CRE 2025 in Pune; Advances in Rehabilitation Highlighted with New 3D Printing Lab
A two-day Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) 2025 program commenced on December 11, 2025, at the Artificial Limb Centre (ALC) in Pune, inaugurated by Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, the Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS). The event convened rehabilitation specialists, clinicians, researchers, and professionals nationwide to discuss progress in amputee care and rehabilitation.
During the opening ceremony, Surg VAdm Sarin, alongside Lt Gen Pankaj P. Rao, Director and Commandant of AFMC and Colonel Commandant of the AMC, unveiled several initiatives. These included a 3D-printed CRE memento, the quarterly newsletter STRIDE, and a detailed Patient Compendium. These releases are intended to facilitate knowledge exchange, spotlight innovations, and compile best practices in prosthetic and rehabilitation sciences.
The Commandant of ALC Pune welcomed attendees and outlined the theme for this year, Improving Outcomes in Amputee Rehabilitation, highlighting the importance of integrating cutting-edge technologies and patient-focused strategies to improve the quality of life for amputees.

The program featured a keynote speech by Ms. Sminu Jindal, a renowned industry leader and advocate for accessibility, who emphasized the critical role of inclusive infrastructure, innovation, and policy support in enhancing rehabilitation standards across the nation.
A key moment of the event was the launch of a state-of-the-art Additive Manufacturing Lab at ALC. This facility, equipped with advanced 3D-printing technology, is set to enhance precision, efficiency, and accessibility in prosthetic manufacturing, representing a significant advancement in personalized rehabilitation solutions for both defense personnel and civilians.

The CRE 2025 program is scheduled to continue with technical sessions, expert lectures, and practical workshops aimed at fostering innovation and improving rehabilitation outcomes throughout India.
