Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin Leads 11th JCM Meeting Focused on AFMS Welfare and Modernisation in Mumbai

Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, who serves as the Director General of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), presided over the 11th Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM) Level III meeting. The event took place on May 16, 2026, at the Armed Forces Medical Stores Depot (AFMSD) in Mumbai.

In the course of the meeting, the Director General assessed significant concerns pertaining to the welfare, service conditions, and training of Defence Civilian personnel from the DGAFMS cadre.

Surg Vice Admiral Sarin acknowledged the crucial role played by industrial and non-industrial employees stationed at various AFMS facilities. She stressed the need for maintaining professionalism, fostering innovation, and engaging actively in the ongoing digital transformation initiatives within the Armed Forces Medical Services.

Additionally, the DGAFMS inaugurated the "Laishram Hall" at AFMSD Mumbai. This initiative was in memory of Major Laishram J Singh, who was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his valiant service to the nation.

The meeting underscored the AFMS leadership's continuous commitment to advancing workforce welfare, modernising organisational structures, and enhancing healthcare support mechanisms for the Armed Forces community.
