Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh Honored with Qualified Flying Instructor Badge at IAF Ceremony

A valedictory ceremony took place on October 9, 2025, at the Flying Instructors School at Air Force Station Tambaram, celebrating the 159th Qualified Flying Instructor Course (QFIC). The event marked a significant achievement in the Indian Air Force's ongoing efforts to cultivate top-tier flying instructors. Air Marshal Tejbir Singh, Senior Air Staff Officer of the Training Command, IAF, attended the occasion as the Chief Guest.

During the ceremony, a total of 59 officers from the Indian Air Force, alongside officers from other services and allied foreign nations, were awarded the prestigious ‘Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI)’ badge. This badge is a testament to their professional expertise and instructional capabilities.

Among the graduates was Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh, recognized as one of India's first female Rafale pilots. She received her Qualified Flying Instructor badge, marking another milestone in her illustrious career. Previously, Squadron Leader Shivangi served with the Golden Arrows Squadron and played a pivotal role in Operation Sindoor, during which she countered false claims by the Pakistan government through her dedication and proven service record.

The Flying Instructors School (FIS), founded in 1948, has been a cornerstone in the education of flying instructors who contribute to the development of aircrew training in India and internationally. The completion of the 159th QFIC underscores the IAF's commitment to upholding exemplary standards in aviation training and safety.

The event concluded with Air Marshal Tejbir Singh honoring the graduating officers while highlighting the essential role instructors play in enhancing operational readiness and combat effectiveness within the force.
