Squadron Leader Lokender Singh Sindhu Honored with Full Military Rites in Rohtak After Jaguar Crash

The final rites for Squadron Leader Lokender Singh Sindhu, one of the two Indian Air Force pilots who perished in the unfortunate Jaguar fighter jet crash in Churu, Rajasthan, took place in Rohtak on Thursday with full military honors.

A large number of mourners gathered to pay homage to the 44-year-old officer, whose coffin was wrapped in the Indian flag. As family members, local residents, IAF officials, and civil dignitaries stood in respectful silence, the Air Force contingent performed a ceremonial gun salute.

Squadron Leader Sindhu was a member of No. 5 Squadron ‘Tuskers’ and was engaged in a routine training mission when the Jaguar trainer aircraft went down near Bhanoda village in Rajasthan’s Churu district on July 9. Flight Lieutenant Rishi Raj Singh was also on board and lost his life in the accident.

Originating from Rohtak, Sindhu had recently embraced fatherhood. His family portrayed him as a committed officer who had always aspired to fly for his country. His sacrifice has stirred profound emotions throughout Haryana, drawing tributes from former officers, public figures, and citizens alike.

As the bugle played and the flames ascended from the funeral pyre, Squadron Leader Sindhu was honored with chants of “Shaheed Amar Rahein” resonating in the air.

His legacy of bravery and duty continues to live on in the hearts of a mourning yet proud nation.
