Satish Golcha Appointed Delhi Police Commissioner Following Attack on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta

New Delhi, August 21, 2025 – In a decisive administrative action, the Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed Satish Golcha as the new Commissioner of Delhi Police. This decision follows an attack on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at her Civil Lines camp office during a public hearing.

On August 20, 2025, CM Rekha Gupta was assaulted by an individual posing as a petitioner during a “Jan Sunwai” session. The attacker reportedly struck her and pulled her hair, resulting in injuries to her head, shoulders, and hands. Authorities have described the incident as “life-threatening,” prompting concerns about the safety of public officials. In response, Gupta condemned the attack as an attempt to hinder public service and vowed to continue her work undeterred.

Amidst growing criticism over security shortcomings, the authorities have upgraded the Chief Minister’s protection to Z‑category CRPF cover, transferring her security management from the Delhi Police to the Central Reserve Police Force.
