Sanjay Seth Inaugurates Bachendri Girls’ Hostel at Sainik School Ghorakhal
Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth on August 18, 2026 visited Sainik School Ghorakhal and inaugurated a new girls’ hostel named Bachendri, a development aimed at expanding residential facilities for girl cadets and supporting their participation in military-oriented education and training.
The minister was received by Principal Group Captain Madhu Sengar, Vice Principal Commander Archana Choudhary and Administrative Officer Major Ajay Singh Pawar. As part of the ceremonial welcome, he laid a wreath and was presented a Guard of Honour by the cadets.

The inauguration of Bachendri was the centrepiece of the visit. The new hostel is intended to strengthen the school’s residential infrastructure for girl cadets at a time when more young women are entering institutions linked to defence preparation and disciplined schooling.
After the formal ceremony, Sanjay Seth spent time with the cadets, posed for a group photograph and joined them for lunch at the Cadets’ Mess. The interaction gave the students an opportunity to speak directly with the minister and share their experiences at the school.

Addressing the cadets, Seth congratulated Sainik School Ghorakhal for its strong performance in the National Defence Academy examinations. He also praised the school’s infrastructure and training facilities, while noting its continued focus on academic excellence, discipline, character building and leadership development.
Describing the girls’ hostel as a symbol of women’s empowerment and equal opportunity, the Raksha Rajya Mantri said its inauguration marked the beginning of a new era for the institution.
He urged the cadets to build a sound understanding of India’s history by reading authentic sources and to remain aware of developments around them. He also called on them to prepare themselves to serve the nation with dedication, responsibility and a clear sense of purpose.

The visit reflected the government’s continuing emphasis on improving educational and residential facilities for girl cadets and on encouraging greater participation of young women in opportunities connected with national service and defence.
For Sainik School Ghorakhal, the addition of Bachendri adds another layer to its effort to create an inclusive environment that combines education, discipline, leadership training and preparation for future service to the nation.
