Reliance Defence Announces ₹600 Crore Export Deal with Germany's Rheinmetall

Reliance Defence Limited has secured a significant ₹600 crore export contract with Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH, a prominent German defense company, marking an important achievement for India's private defense manufacturing industry.

This deal comes on the heels of a newly formed strategic alliance between Reliance Defence, which operates under Reliance Infrastructure Limited, and Rheinmetall. As one of the largest agreements in the advanced ammunition sector, it is anticipated to considerably boost India's defense export capabilities.

Anil Ambani, the Founder Chairman of Reliance Group, described the agreement as a pivotal moment, stating, “The strategic partnership with Rheinmetall introduces advanced capabilities to India and establishes Reliance Defence as a global player in the high-precision munitions field. This collaboration strengthens our commitment to fulfill India’s defense requirements and integrate the country into the global defense supply chain as a reliable partner.”

Armin Papperger, CEO of Rheinmetall AG, shared this view, highlighting the company's dedication to India's defense sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He remarked, “This partnership reflects Rheinmetall’s strong confidence in India’s potential and its status as a strategic defense ally.”

The collaboration is designed to enhance India's self-sufficiency in defense production and quicken the "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiative by developing export-ready capabilities in munitions and key military technologies.

Reliance Defence is now striving to rank among the top three defense exporters in India, thereby advancing the nation's expanding role in the global defense arena.
