Rahul Gandhi Commends CRPF Officer Ajay Malik's Valor Following Injury in Maoist Operation

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, paid a visit to Assistant Commandant Ajay Malik of the CRPF's 209 CoBRA Battalion in R.K. Puram, New Delhi. Gandhi commended Malik's bravery after the officer suffered the loss of a leg during an anti-Maoist operation.

Ajay Malik sustained severe injuries from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast earlier this month. The incident occurred while Malik was engaged in a search and cordon mission in the Saranda forest area of West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand.

Expressing the impact of the meeting, Gandhi noted his admiration for the officer's exceptional resilience, courage, and steadfast spirit.

Following his interaction with Malik and his family, Gandhi remarked, "I salute his service and dedication to the nation and wish him a speedy recovery."

The incident took place during a collaborative operation initiated based on specific intelligence about Maoist activities in the area. A pressure IED detonated during the mission, severely injuring Malik.

Upon sustaining injuries, Malik was quickly evacuated, received initial medical attention, and was then airlifted to Ranchi for further treatment. In response to the blast, security forces have increased their efforts in the region and have deployed additional personnel.

This event underscores the hazards faced by security personnel during counter-insurgency operations in Maoist-affected areas. Ajay Malik's sacrifice and fortitude continue to exemplify the dedication and bravery of CRPF members working in difficult conditions.

In a separate statement, Rahul Gandhi also extended condolences over the fatalities resulting from a recent hospital fire in Odisha, offering support to the bereaved families.
