Quad Successfully Completes Inaugural Field Training Exercise Enhancing Indo-Pacific Logistics Network

The first Field Training Exercise (FTX) under the Quad Indo-Pacific Logistics Network (IPLN), involving Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, concluded successfully from December 8 to 12, 2025. This event marked a milestone for the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) as it was conducted alongside Operation Christmas Drop at Andersen Air Force Base, underscoring enhanced collaboration for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

The IPLN facilitates Quad partners in utilizing shared logistics capabilities to support civilian responses to significant natural disasters, which results in quicker aid delivery, enhanced recovery efforts, and more effective support to regional partners.

During the exercise, various training activities were conducted to boost interoperability and coordination. These included boarding a Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) C-130H transport aircraft, which aimed to enhance the collective disaster response capabilities and demonstrate the practical integration of logistics assets among the Quad members.

Officials highlighted that the FTX, along with the IPLN Tabletop Exercise (TTX) held in April 2025, signifies the Quad's dedication to tangible cooperation in tackling regional challenges and promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific.

In the future, the Quad plans to continue developing IPLN initiatives, including regular tabletop and field training exercises, confidence-building measures, and exchanges among subject matter experts. These efforts aim to further institutionalize logistics cooperation and preparedness for regional contingencies.
