Punjab Police Arrest Faridkot Woman in Alleged ISI Spy Ring; Two Army Personnel Booked

Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence wing has arrested a woman and booked two Army personnel in a suspected espionage case in which classified information about military installations is alleged to have been passed to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), officials said on Sunday.

The woman, identified as Gurnoor Sidhu, a resident of Faridkot, was arrested near an under-construction bridge on the Hussainiwala border road. Police said she is being questioned as investigators try to determine the full extent of the alleged network and the role played by each of the accused.

According to police, the case began after information surfaced on Thursday that the accused were allegedly conspiring to share sensitive details about military zones and cantonments with Pakistani agencies. The matter was then taken up by the Counter Intelligence wing for further investigation.

Police said the two Army personnel were deployed along the India-China border and are suspected of having gathered sensitive information. Sidhu, according to the police statement, allegedly helped transmit that material using electronic devices and internet-based communication tools, including mobile phones and tablets.

The case is being treated as a suspected espionage operation involving the collection and transmission of military-related information. Investigators are examining how the information was allegedly obtained, how it was communicated and whether the network involved more people than those already named.

A case has been registered against the three accused at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) police station in Fazilka under relevant sections of the Official Secrets Act. Police said the investigation is ongoing to determine the nature and scope of the alleged activity.

Security agencies are also looking into whether information linked to the Faridkot military cantonment was passed on to Pakistan. They are assessing whether any other military installations or sensitive locations may have been involved in the alleged sharing of information.

Police have not shared further details on the material allegedly transmitted or on the evidence collected so far. The case remains under investigation, and the allegations have not yet been established through judicial proceedings.
