NWWA Ghatkopar Inaugurates Tailoring Training Facility for Naval Families
The Navy Wives Welfare Association (NWWA) Ghatkopar inaugurated a tailoring facility for naval families on September 25, 2026, opening a vocational training space aimed at wellness, self-reliance and livelihood support.
The new facility has been set up to give participants practical, hands-on training in tailoring-related skills. The programme is intended to help naval family members build usable capabilities that can contribute both to personal independence and to income-generating opportunities.

Six participants have begun training at the centre. Their initial sessions include machine operation, cutting, alterations and pattern designing, giving them exposure to the core stages of tailoring work.
The training model is designed around practical learning rather than classroom instruction alone. By working directly with equipment and materials, participants are able to practise the skills needed across different aspects of tailoring, from operating machines to making adjustments and creating patterns.

NWWA Ghatkopar said the initiative is part of its broader effort to support the well-being of naval families while also encouraging self-reliance. The tailoring facility is meant to serve both as a skill-building centre and as a pathway to livelihood opportunities for those taking part.
The inauguration also marked the formal start of training at the facility, with the first batch of six participants already engaged in hands-on sessions. The programme has been launched under the NWWA theme “Anchoring Lives”, which reflects the association’s focus on initiatives that support naval families through wellness, self-reliance and livelihood-oriented activities.
