Pune Set to Host Inaugural "Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon 2025" on November 2nd
Pune, 28 October 2025 — The Air Force Station Pune is set to hold the first-ever "Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon" on 2 November 2025, beginning at 0545 hours at the Station Sports Ground in Lohegaon. This event is a tribute to the bravery and ultimate sacrifice of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the sole recipient of the Param Vir Chakra from the Indian Air Force.
The marathon aims to celebrate the unwavering spirit, valor, and principles of the Indian Air Force, while also promoting fitness, patriotism, and unity among its participants. The event is anticipated to attract a large number of participants, including active IAF personnel, veterans, their families, and enthusiastic civilians from Pune and nearby regions.

Participants will compete in three different categories: 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km, encouraging individuals of various ages and fitness levels to join this event that represents the Air Force motto, ‘Touch the Sky with Glory.’
This marathon in Pune is part of a nationwide event, the Pan-India Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon, being conducted simultaneously across 61 Air Force Stations throughout the country, serving as a collective homage to the nation's courageous air warriors.
