Potential Subedar Major Course at JLA Bareilly Concludes, Honoring Subedar Major Puran Singh as Best Student
The Junior Leaders Academy (JLA) in Bareilly successfully concluded the Potential Subedar Major Course on March 17, 2026. This course saw the participation of Subedar Majors, equivalent ranks, and potential Subedar Majors from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Special Frontier Force (SFF), and Assam Rifles.
This intensive four-week professional training capsule aimed to enhance leadership skills, foster inter-service understanding, and improve battlefield readiness among junior leaders.

During the event, Brigadier Gaurav Kapoor, Commandant of JLA Bareilly, addressed the participants. He highlighted the significant role that Subedar Majors play in fostering cohesive unit dynamics and ensuring operational effectiveness, particularly in the face of changing geopolitical and security scenarios.

Subedar Major Puran Singh, from the Army Air Defence, was honored with the “Overall Best Student” award for his exemplary performance throughout the course.

The course emphasized the significance of joint leadership, the development of leadership skills, and operational readiness, thereby preparing junior leaders for increased responsibilities in modern warfare contexts.
The successful completion of this programme underscores the Indian Armed Forces' commitment to nurturing capable and future-ready leaders across all levels.
