Platoon Commanders Course Wraps Up at Junior Leaders Wing, Naib Subedar Gauri Shankar Sharma Meer Named Best Student

The Indian Army's Platoon Commanders Course concluded on March 31, 2026, at the Junior Leaders Wing, signifying the end of an intensive training phase for junior leaders.

Participants included personnel from the Indian Army along with 14 trainees from friendly foreign nations such as Sri Lanka, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, and Bhutan.

During the closing ceremony, Major General Rakesh Manocha, Commander of the Junior Leaders Wing, addressed the attendees and congratulated the trainees. He encouraged them to apply their newly acquired knowledge in future operational roles.

Recognitions were given to outstanding trainees, with Naib Subedar Gauri Shankar Sharma Meer of the 8th Gorkha Rifles receiving the Best Student award, and S/SGT Matuge Gan Michel Legrand of the Cameroon Army being named Best Foreign Student.

The course underscores the Indian Army's commitment to developing leadership, operational prowess, and fostering international military collaboration.

The completion of this program further establishes the Junior Leaders Wing in Belagavi as a vital institution for preparing competent and mission-ready leaders to meet the challenges of modern warfare.
