Paratrooper Found Dead in Kokernag Avalanche During Anti-Terror Operation; Second Soldier Still Missing

In a tragic incident in South Kashmir, the body of an Indian Army paratrooper was discovered in the snow-laden areas of Kokernag, three days after he went missing during an anti-terror operation. Indications such as his rucksack and weapon suggest that he was actively engaged in combat at the time of the incident.

Initial reports indicate that the paratrooper may have succumbed to an avalanche or a sudden snowstorm that impacted the high-altitude operational area during the ongoing counter-terror operations. The region has been experiencing severe weather conditions recently, which have complicated the mission and the efforts to rescue the soldiers.

Search operations, carried out by specialized teams from the Army and police, are still underway to find another soldier missing from the same operation. Officials have pointed out that challenging terrain and unstable snow conditions are making the recovery efforts very difficult.

The Indian Army continues to conduct both ground and aerial surveillance to assist in the rescue mission, emphasizing its dedication to ensuring every soldier's safe return.
