Panchshil Soldierathon Bombay Sappers: Over 4,500 Runners Pay Tribute to Indian Armed Forces

In a remarkable display of determination and reverence, over 4,500 participants gathered at the historic Bombay Sappers Parade Ground for the Panchshil Soldierathon Bombay Sappers. This event served as a tribute to the valor, courage, and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces, marking a significant advancement in the Fit Bharat Movement.

Organized by Fitistan – Ek Fit Bharat, the country's largest community-driven fitness initiative, in partnership with Panchshil Realty, the event united soldiers, veterans, civilians, students, and fitness enthusiasts under a common cause: to run with pride, purpose, and patriotism.

The event featured three categories — a 10 km timed run, a 5 km fun run, and a 3 km walk, each filled with emotion and significance. The race began at 6:45 AM, flagged off by Governor General V. K. Singh and Southern Army Commander Lt. General Dhiraj Seth, energizing and inspiring all participants.

This event was unique in offering the rare chance to run alongside Indian Army soldiers, who exemplify valor, discipline, and a steadfast commitment to the nation.

Beyond the medals and distance, Soldierathon stood in support of the wounded soldiers at the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre, Kirkee, a place of healing for those who have sustained severe injuries in service. The event symbolized a collective act of respect and commitment, raising awareness and solidarity for India's injured warriors.

Major Surendra Poonia, VSM (Ex-Special Forces), together with Mrs. Shilpa Bhagat, are the driving forces behind this national movement. They continue to lead Fitistan – Ek Fit Bharat with the goal of building a healthier, stronger, and more unified Bharat, where fitness serves as a tribute to the forces that safeguard the nation.

"Panchshil Soldierathon was not just about covering distances. It was about honoring lives. Every step was a salute and a tribute. We are profoundly grateful to our Indian Army, Military Seniors, every runner, volunteer, and especially our partners like Panchshil Realty who turned this vision into reality," stated Major Surendra Poonia, VSM. "We encourage every citizen to embrace the ethics, sacrifice, and discipline of our forces not only during conflicts but in daily life. This is the true essence of nation-building."
