P K Mishra, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, visited Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bengaluru on Tuesday to assess progress on major indigenous defense projects. The visit, hosted by HAL Chairman and Managing Director D K Sunil along with board members, aimed to evaluate the production and development stages of India's leading fighter aircraft programs.

During his visit, Mishra toured the LCA Mk 2 hangar at the Aircraft Research and Design Centre (ARDC), followed by an inspection of both the LCA Tejas Assembly Hangar and the Aerospace Division. During the visit, HAL displayed six LCA Mk 1A fighter aircraft and two Mk 1 trainer variants, emphasizing its preparedness to lead complex, multi-stakeholder defense projects in the future. HAL also reiterated its dedication to achieving self-sufficiency in defense production in line with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Mishra's visit to HAL is part of a wider governmental initiative to oversee and accelerate indigenous defense and infrastructure programs. In recent weeks, he has also reviewed significant infrastructure developments in Gujarat, including the Ahmedabad-Dholera Greenfield Expressway, Dholera International Airport, and Tata Electronics’ Semiconductor Fab Project.

His review meetings highlighted the importance of timely execution, adherence to global quality standards, and the need to strengthen India's defense manufacturing sector through technological innovation and skilled manpower.
