NSG Launches Pioneer Mahila Commando Course at Manesar Training Academy
In a first for the force, the National Security Guard has launched its Pioneer Mahila Commando Conversion Course (MCCC-01) at the NSG Training Academy in Manesar, opening a new training pathway for women personnel in one of India’s elite counter-terrorism organisations.
The 12-week course began on August 24, 2026, and is designed to equip the trainees with the specialised skills, physical conditioning, tactical proficiency and mental resilience expected of NSG commandos. The academy is the service’s dedicated training establishment for advanced instruction in counter-terrorism, close-quarter battle, combat shooting and other skills required for high-risk security operations.
During a visit to the academy on September 3, 2026, the Director General, National Security Guard, addressed the women undergoing the pioneering course and described the initiative as part of the force’s effort to develop highly trained and mission-ready women personnel capable of handling demanding operational responsibilities.
According to the NSG, the training architecture of MCCC-01 is intended not merely to build physical endurance but also to prepare the trainees for the intensity of operational environments associated with specialised security duties. The programme will expose the women commandos to a gruelling training schedule over the full 12 weeks.
At the academy, the Director General also watched a combat shooting demonstration with the Mahila trainees. The display highlighted the precision, speed and reflex action of instructors from the NSG Training Academy, while also giving the trainees a practical sense of the standards of combat proficiency expected during specialised training.
While speaking to the trainees, he outlined a vision of empowering women personnel through rigorous training and shaping them into mission-ready national assets capable of leading from the front. The NSG said the initiative reflects a broader effort to expand the role of women in specialised security and counter-terrorism training and to strengthen their contribution to national security and nation-building.
The start of MCCC-01 also adds to the growing participation of women personnel in demanding roles across India’s security forces. If the trainees successfully complete the course, they are expected to emerge with enhanced tactical and operational capabilities suited to specialised assignments.
Summing up the spirit of the programme, the NSG described the initiative with the message: “शेरनी क्या करती है? उठती है! बढ़ती है!! और LEAD करती है!!”
The pioneer batch of the Mahila Commando Conversion Course is therefore both a training milestone for the NSG and a step in the wider effort to place women personnel in more demanding roles within India’s national security architecture.
