The Indian Naval Academy (INA) recently saw the conclusion of the 14th Admiral’s Cup Regatta, witnessing unprecedented participation from over 31 countries. This turnout set a new record for the prestigious annual international sailing event.

Heading the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) contingent was Lieutenant Commander Prasad Chavan, with Midshipman Andrea Hawke and Sub-Lieutenant Georgia Bilby representing the team. Notably, New Zealand was unique among the participants for having two female athletes compete, showcasing its dedication to diversity and excellence in naval sports.

The regatta spanned four rigorous days, comprising eight fiercely competitive races amid challenging conditions, with temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius. Despite these hardships, Andrea and Georgia demonstrated remarkable endurance and skill in seamanship, navigation, and sailing, earning admiration from both officials and their peers.

Midshipman Andrea Hawke stood out with her exceptional performance, consistently achieving strong finishes in each of the eight races. Her efforts were recognized with a Silver Medal in the female athlete category, a significant accomplishment in a highly competitive international setting.

The RNZN sailors' impressive performance underscored their professionalism and sailing expertise, significantly contributing to the success and spirit of the Admiral’s Cup Regatta. The event further reinforced INA’s reputation as a leading venue for promoting international naval camaraderie, sporting excellence, and maritime skills.
