Neeraj Chopra Secures Gold at Ostrava with 85.29m Javelin Throw

Lt Col Neeraj Chopra, the celebrated Indian javelin thrower and Olympic and World Champion, claimed a gold medal at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet with a throw measuring 85.29 meters. This impressive throw secured him the lead, surpassing South Africa's Douw Smit, who achieved 84.12 meters, and Grenada's Anderson Peters, who reached 83.63 meters.

Although Chopra committed a foul on his final attempt, his initial throw was sufficient to guarantee the top spot, as no other competitor managed to exceed the 86-meter mark. Despite not matching his personal record, this performance underlined his consistent excellence and dominance in international athletics.

Following this achievement, Lt Col Chopra is set to return to India for the highly anticipated Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on July 5. This event is expected to attract several top international athletes, including Anderson Peters and Germany's Thomas Röhler, promising an exciting javelin competition on home soil.

Earlier in June, Chopra also triumphed at the Paris Diamond League, and while he initially led the Doha leg, he was narrowly surpassed by Julian Weber, who threw over 90 meters in the final round.
