Nationwide Rollout of Medicine Delivery Service for Ex-Servicemen by Department of Posts

The Department of Posts, in collaboration with the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, has introduced a specialized medicine delivery service targeting beneficiaries of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme. This new initiative is designed to facilitate the collection, booking, transmission, and home delivery of medicines that are unavailable at ECHS polyclinics.
Medicines under this service will be sourced and packaged by Village Level Entrepreneurs at Common Service Centres situated in ECHS polyclinics. The logistics and delivery will be managed by the vast and reliable network of India Post, ensuring that these medicines are delivered safely and efficiently to beneficiaries across the nation.
Pilot Success and Nationwide Expansion
The program was initially tested in Delhi starting on July 31, 2025, where it saw positive feedback with the delivery of over 1,700 medicine packets. Encouraged by this success, the service was extended to the NCR region, including Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. A detailed mapping of 458 ECHS locations throughout the country has been completed, and the service officially begins its national rollout on October 17, 2025.
Commitment to Welfare and Citizen Service
This service demonstrates the Department of Posts' dedication to using its extensive postal network to support welfare initiatives and public service. By guaranteeing the timely and dependable delivery of medicines, the program underscores India Post’s contribution to nation-building as a reliable partner and illustrates the government's ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access for ex-servicemen and their families.
The launch represents a crucial advancement in integrated healthcare delivery for veterans, blending technology, logistics, and community engagement to fulfill the needs of those who have served the country.
