MoD Seeks 200 Light Helicopters for Indian Army and Air Force Through RFI

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has released a Request for Information (RFI) for acquiring 200 Light Helicopters, known as Reconnaissance & Surveillance Helicopters (RSH). This initiative aims to enhance the operational capabilities of both the Indian Army and Air Force.

As outlined in the RFI, the Army is set to receive 120 helicopters, while the Air Force will be allocated 80. This step is part of the process to finalize the Services Qualitative Requirements (SQRs), establish the procurement category, and identify potential vendors.

The RFI also promotes collaboration between Indian companies and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) through joint ventures or production partnerships, supporting the growth of indigenous defence manufacturing.

A vendor interaction is scheduled for 22 August 2025 at 10:30 hrs, with the deadline for RFI responses set for 18 October 2025.

This procurement is anticipated to bolster India's reconnaissance and surveillance abilities, which are crucial elements in contemporary military operations.
