Martyr's Mother's Collapse at Jaipur Army Day Ceremony Highlights Emotional Burden of Sacrifice
An emotionally charged moment occurred during the Army Day celebrations in Jaipur when the mother of a fallen soldier fainted on stage while receiving her son’s gallantry award, bringing the audience to tears and creating a somber silence.
At the Army Day investiture ceremony in Rajasthan, Lance Naik Pradeep Kumar of 1 PARA (Special Forces), who sacrificed his life during Operation Sindoor, was posthumously awarded the Sena Medal (Gallantry) for his remarkable bravery and ultimate sacrifice. As his mother came forward to accept the medal on behalf of her son, she was overcome with grief and emotion, causing her to collapse on stage.
Senior Army officers at the event quickly went to her assistance. She was carefully helped off the stage and transported to a nearby hospital in an Army ambulance, where she is currently under medical care. Army doctors are closely observing her condition.
A Hero of Operation Sindoor
Lance Naik Pradeep Kumar demonstrated outstanding courage during a counter-terror operation in Kulgam district on July 6, 2024. Leading as the scout in a cordon and search operation based on specific intelligence, he discovered a hidden hideout inside a target house. When terrorists launched a sudden and fierce attack, he skillfully responded, neutralizing one terrorist and effectively pinning down another, thus safeguarding his team.
Despite sustaining severe injuries and losing a significant amount of blood, Lance Naik Pradeep Kumar continued to engage the terrorists, providing crucial time for his teammates to find cover. Although he was later evacuated by a fellow soldier, he succumbed to his injuries, achieving martyrdom in the line of duty. The neutralized terrorist was later identified as a seasoned Hizbul Mujahideen operative.
In recognition of his unwavering courage, fearless leadership, and ultimate sacrifice, Lance Naik Pradeep Kumar was posthumously awarded the Sena Medal (Gallantry).
