Manipur Students Engage with Eastern Army Commander During National Integration Tour in Kolkata

The National Integration Tour for Manipur students made significant progress in Kolkata as participants enhanced their knowledge of India's educational, cultural, and military heritage. This visit was designed to expand their perspectives and foster a deeper sense of national unity among the youth.

A significant moment of the tour occurred on December 18, when the students visited Vijay Smarak at the Eastern Command Headquarters. During this visit, they had the unique opportunity to meet Lieutenant General R C Tiwari, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command. The Army Commander shared his insights on leadership, discipline, and core military values, emphasizing the significance of national security and selfless service. His interaction left the young participants with a heightened sense of responsibility, motivation, and national pride.

In addition to the military engagement, the students explored both the historical and modern aspects of Kolkata, known as the City of Joy. Their itinerary included a scenic ferry ride across the Hooghly River, providing insights into riverfront development and sustainable urban planning. The group also visited Acropolis Mall, offering many their first experience of a modern shopping complex and a glimpse into the evolving urban service sector.

The day ended with a visit to the renowned Mohun Bagan Stadium, where students learned about India’s rich football history and the enduring spirit of sports excellence.

Organized by the Assam Rifles, the National Integration Tour remains a crucial link between the North East and the rest of the country. By exposing students to India's diverse institutions, cultural vibrancy, and national ethos, the initiative strengthens the spirit of unity in diversity and encourages youth to contribute actively to the nation's future progress.
