The event, which took place at Raj Bhavan on September 1, celebrated Malik's significant role in an impactful aerial mission against terror targets in Pakistan, marking a pivotal moment in India's counter-terrorism efforts.

Operation Sindoor is regarded as one of India’s most triumphant cross-border operations, leading to the distribution of nine Vir Chakras, the highest for a single mission since the 2019 Balakot airstrikes. Malik's pivotal involvement in the mission earned him national recognition, and the Manipur government awarded him ₹10 lakh in appreciation of his achievement.

Governor Bhalla, who is an experienced 1984-batch IAS officer and former Union Home Secretary, commended Malik’s bravery and dedication. "Your valor has not only brought fame to Manipur but has also inspired many young Indians," he stated.

Squadron Leader Malik, in his speech, expressed gratitude to the state and his family for their steadfast support, dedicating his accolade to his fellow service members.

The ceremony concluded with an exchange of honors, including the presentation of a memento and floral tribute, attended by senior officials, Malik's family, and other esteemed guests, highlighting the close relationship between the state and the military.
