Major General Debashish Mukherjee Named Commandant of Eastern Command Hospital
The Indian Army's Eastern Command has extended its congratulations to Major General Debashish Mukherjee, who assumed the role of Commandant at the Command Hospital (Eastern Command) in Kolkata on July 8, 2026.
Major General Mukherjee, a graduate of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, is a renowned Surgical Oncologist with an accomplished career in the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS). His service spans over three decades during which he has held numerous key roles in clinical, academic, and leadership capacities.

In his new position as Commandant, Major General Mukherjee will be at the helm of one of the Indian Armed Forces' leading tertiary care hospitals. He will be responsible for supervising specialized healthcare services provided to active duty personnel, veterans, and their families, while also enhancing the hospital's clinical and operational medical capabilities.
